News and Events: And There's The Kick-Off

About 300 supporters showed up at the Salt Lick Pavilion in April to help kick-off the Jeff Barton campaign for Hays County Commissioner, Pct. 2.

Steering Committee members said the kick-off exceeded their expectations -- both in turn-out and money raised. Dozens who couldn't be there in person on a work night sent contributions and notes of encouragement.

The crowd included supporters from every voting box -- and just about every neighborhood -- in northern Hays County, as well as friends from San Marcos, Wimberley, Dripping Springs, and Austin.

Jeff Barton told the well-wishers the campaign is about rising above petty partisanship and building bridges between people and communities. (It wasn't a typical political speech. In addition to the speechifying, supporters enjoyed BBQ, and first-rate music from several local groups.
